Explanation Please?

I use an external site stats service (AdFreeStats) to track visitors to my site. I am getting more hits on my blog articles than my visitor stats would indicate so I am confused as to how the "hits" on my articles are created.

I assume a visitor would have to click on an article link to record a hit on that article, yet all my articles are on the same page so there is no need to click a link in the sidebar. Maybe they do that rather than scroll down. Anyway, what constitutes a hit on an article? Is it clicking a link?

A simple question but I would like to know for sure.

Thanks

A "hit" can only be calculated, as you propperly guessed, by clicking on the article link.

Thus only ifyou have entries with extended bodys, people will probably click on the links and generate hits there which the karma plugin can track. There would be no other way to indicate a hit for an entry if the user only looks at the frontpage.
