Pasting link on Facebook problem

Post by Berryman »

Hi

I have a problem when trying to paste a link to my blog from Facebook. For some reason Facebook changes any / after index.php? into %2F so that the link does not work and just redirects people to the index page instead of the blog entry.

I'm presuming it's a problem at the FB end. I guess I can use a url shortener.

Many thanks

Hi

There are more encodings than %2F, but usually it is no problem to decode them as a real link.
I can't imagine this will happen to often, so you could use a quick online decoder like this

one here.

Thanks. The only problem is that it is FB that is changing the encoding of the link when it is posted, I can't control this as it can't then be edited. I'm not sure why FB is doing this, I'll ask on their forum and post here if I get a response.

Hi!

Yes, that facebook response would interest me as well.

Note that you could use a URL forwarding service like bit.ly to shorten your own URL, and then post that link in FB.
