How to update plug-in

Post by Berryman »

Hi

This might sound daft  , but how do I update a plug-in? I downloaded a plug-in to one of my blogs today (serendipity_event_findmore) and noticed it had more options than a version I had put on an earlier blog. So I went to try and download this version for my other blog but all it offers me is the same older version, ie. without Facebook/Twitter on it. I can't figure out how to download the most recent version, have tried deleting/reinstalling the plugin and Spartacus but still get the same offering.

Regards

Updating plugins is typically just a matter of overwriting the old one with a newer version, which is what happens when updating via spartacus. Does spartacus report a newer version when you check for new plugins? What are the version numbers of the two different versions?

Hi Don

That's what I figured should happen. Spartacus doesn't report that there's a new version and looking at the version number it's the same, but new features have been added - Twitter/Facebook etc.

Here's what it's showing on the config panel:

Blog a:

Show links to services like Digg, Technorati, del.icio.us etc related to your entry.
You can remove/insert other custom services to link to via the "plugin_findmore.tpl" template file easily. Also remember that if you want to save grandma's performance pennies that you can also insert the HTML/JS snippets into your entries.tpl template file instead of using this plugin!
version: 1.13

Blog b:

Show links to services like Facebook, Digg, Technorati, del.icio.us etc related to your entry.
You can remove/insert other custom services to link to via the "plugin_findmore.tpl" template file easily. Also remember that if you want to save grandma's performance pennies that you can also insert the HTML/JS snippets into your entries.tpl template file instead of using this plugin!
version: 1.13

Someone probably forgot to increase the version number. Try downloading the plugin then use FTP to upload it instead of spartacus.

I updated the version-number of the plugin in spartacus, so the error should be corrected for all old instances. Thanks for reporting!
