I'm wondering what happened to the email notification plugin. I found it mentioned here but it doesn't seem to be on the download page.

I know RSS feeds are recommended but my co-author currently doesn't have a connection and writes using his i-Mode mobile phone. It doesn't do RSS feeds and he wants to know when the site is updated.

That plugin is called "serendipity_event_mailer" and is bundled with Serendipity. It shows up as "Send entries via E-Mail" inside your Plugin Event section in the Admin panel, so you should be able to install that.
