Preview post from admin with "email entry" plugin

Hi,

i installed the "email entry to a friend" plugin. It works, but when i do a preview of the post from the admin area, the form to send the post to a friend shows over the post. Is just a problem of design... because once the post is saved, it works and it shows ok from the public area.

I tried to install the last version (1.3), but this little bug is still there.

Using 0.8 beta 5, by the way.

Does anyone have the same problem (if using that plugin)??

Thanks!

First off, upgrade your serendipity. It is exploitable.

Second, could you send a screenshot of the problem?

Okay, an upgrade to 0.8 should solve the problem. On my installation (0.8 + latest mailer plugin) I cannot reproduce this behaviour.

Garvin,

I'm having the same problems with the current version (.8 ) of serendipity. So, I uninstalled the email plugin thinking that it was causing my entry to display wrong. (emailing the entry isn't that important to me...I was just trying it out)

However, the preview is still messed up. I took a snapshot of both the preview and how the article looks in the htmlarea.

Bottom line is that this article is displaying all screwy after dropping text in it from OpenOffice. So...I removed all format from it using a text doc in Windows XP...but as you can see, it still renders silly like. I'm thinking I need to start over and type this 5 page review from scratch. However, I do feel it is important that you guys know that this is a problem. I'll field any questions anyone has on this to the best of my ability.

FYI:

I was able to get things back to normal...but I had to delete that posting/draft and just not use it anymore and start a new post.

I think there might be a problem with the formatting of text in the html area...ESPECIALLY when cutting and pasting text from OpenOffice and Macroshaft Word. Once it is in there, it won't let you reset the post back to plain old text.

Yes,

this is a known issue with any WYSIWYG editor; one you introduce badly formatted code from other software via Copy+Paste, you might never be able to repair the text.

What you did looks like you copy+pasted the surrounding HTML of serendipity parts to your serendipity part again, thus creating a loop.

However you should always be able to switch to Source view (The <> icon) and then remove the text again?

Garvin,

I also was able to duplicate the same problem with the 'email this entry' plugin installed. It displayed the email form at the top of the blog entry just like pano did.

FYI: I am up to date with version .8

Here's the screenshot of it...

TKS: Which version of the "Email this entry" plugin do you have? Version "1.3"? (See the top of the mailentry plugin file)

TKS, which template are you using? And does your template folder contain a 'layout.php'?

Garvin,

MT-Trendy...the only place i have a layout.php is in the /default directory. Nothing in the MT-Trendy one.

In Serendipity 0.8 a layout.ph MAY NOT exist in the template directory 'default'. Please read the release announcement and then remove the file :)

This should fix your bug.

Bug still exists in Serendipity 0.9.1 with Contact Module plugin 1.6: module shows up instead of post preview. I'm using kubrick template and the only layout.php is inside the newspaper folder. Renaming it has no effect.
