I'm at the configuration part of the installation, but I get this error...

Could not connect to database; check your settings.
The mySQL error was: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client


I know all of my user information is correct... But, how can I find out what version of MySql I'm using and how do I go about upgrading it like it says? and What client is it talking about?

I should also mention that I have my domain/hosting service w/Cyberpixels... (Not sure if that's necessary information or not)

You need to talk to your provider and tell them that their PHP module does not contain the necessary MySQL client libraries. It's neither a fault of yours nor Serendipity; your webserver is just wrongly configured.

But one last question before I leave you alone.. What is it exactly that my host provider is supposed to update on their side? Just so I know what to tell them when I email them.. TIA!

Just forward them the error and tell them:

"Your PHP module contains a compilation of an older MySQL client library (3.23) which does not interoperate with the installed MySQL server on your system. You need to match the client library with your MySQL server version so that PHP applications can properly connect."
