user self-registration email

Hi

I'm in the process of setting up a serendipity blog and recently installed the user self registration plugin to the sidebar. Everything appears to be working except when the user and admin receive the notification email the host is missing from the link provided.

here is an example:
Begin
========
An author account has just been created for public1 on the blog /blogweb/serendipity_admin.php. To activate this account, click here:

/blogweb/index.php?serendipity%5Badduser_activation%5D=837d7764f11c6eb88c5b4d01712821d8#adduser
End
=====
Can you tell me what I missed in the setup that is preventing the hostname from being part of the link?
Also, if I take that link above and execute it at my site, by putting the host in the path, it says the user is created, but when I go in as the admin the user is not there and the user cannot login either.

Thanks Ed

Hi!

Just to quote something I also wrote in the mail to kelley: This error seems to happen because the provider is using a customized version of Serendipity that arranges some values differently than we do officially. The exact cause for this is hard to figure out without a look into the source modifications, but the programmers of that code might need to get in touch with us to clear it up.

It seems that the serendipity['baseURL'] variable is not pointing to a full URL. About the adding of a user failing, this might also be related to those changes, as the customizations also seem to affect user handling/management.

Regards,
Garvin

Garvin,

I'll register a ticket with the justhost web hosting service and point them at this issue and your response.

Thanks for your response
Ed

Hi Garvin

I have not received an emails from you on this so I wonder if you are sending to the wrong email address. My email is kellyed1@yahoo.com.
I had no success getting the justhost web services company to work this out with you. I would be glad to help myself. Are there any particular files you want to see from the justhost server?

Thanks Ed

Hi!

What I sent to you via mail was this ( I got no bounce - so check your maildir again? MAybe classified as spam somehow?):
Hi!

Your username is "Ed Kelly". It seems you have registered on October 6th, but
did not yet confirm the confirmation mail sent to you, have you checked your
Spambin?

Anyway, I just enabled your account!

About your actual problem: Did you check your serendipity cofniguration, if the
"URL to your blog" contains a full url? According to the message, it seems it's
empty.

Also, now that I look at your page, you are using a modified Serendipity
version. It is not our original, but your hoster modified some core
configuration things, so that also the administration suite is not pure
Serendipity. Sadly I cannot offer support for such modifications, as I do not
know how they were made - maybe you need to contact your provider directly, and
they can happily get in touch with us so that I can give some technical
directions on what they could check.

The same applies to the adding of a user, it might be that they modified this
code so that it doesn't work anymore...

Best regards,
Garvin
