I would like to put a "Poll" into the sidebar of Serendipity. I saw one at
http://www.acton.org/blog/
This is not a plug-in that is listed in the s9y list.
Can anybody point me to a source?

Hi mike,
I manage the website at
http://www.acton.org/blog/. The poll is actually a plug in that I made that interfaces with the poll software that we use elsewhere on our website. While I don't have the time to develop a complete polling system plug-in, it might be worth making a request directly to the developers of serendipity - they are obviously a very capable group and I doubt that it would take them much time to do.
Another option would be to find some open source poll software, install it, then write a script to work with it. Use one of the plug in that come with Serendipity as a template...
Good luck to you!

Hi Jonathan
I'm going to suggest that the Serendipity guys write a Poll plug-in. It's a way to test what your readers think and would add interest to a site.
I thing I will also see about writing a poll routine. It seems to me that it would be pretty straightforward. What I am not so sure about is how you make someting into a plugin. Your idea of following a Serendipity template is a good one.
Incidentally, I like your blog.

As already questioned on the forum (easy to search for

) and told here:

I've just also committed this (somewhat older) plugin to our additional_plugins CVS. Maybe someone can spend some work on it and improve it at will. Basically it seems to work, and was created by Evan Nemerson (
