Upgrade from 1.1.2

Hi I install 1.1.2 from Plesk application installer and can open the index and admin pages fine. I don't have access that will allow me to unzip the 1.4.1 package on the shared server so I unzip it locally and ftp all files to the same folder. I have the ftp set to upload php's as ascii and images and binary.

When I completed the upload the first time I go to index.php and it provides a message saying click here to upgrade which then took me to serendipity_admin.php but a blank page.

I mucked around and then uninstalled the entire package including DB and reinstalled 1.1.2 again from Plesk and that works fine. Upload the 1.4.1 files and now I get a blank page - nothing!!!

The error log shows
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function serendipity_getpostauthsessionlanguage() in /home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.com.au/httpdocs/news/serendipity_config.inc.php on line 312

Is there an easier way to do an upgrade - this is very tedious as the FTP even on ADSL takes ages.

Hi!

Sounds much like an upgrade error. I'd suggest to re-upload all files in an external FTP client, use BINARY transfer FOR ALL FILES, and use a threaded uploading tool like Filezilla, that makes it MUCH faster.

Also closely watch out for error messages during upload.

Regards,
Garvin

Edit -> Network Configuration Wizzard. Try using that for the initial configuration. Once configured, use File -> Site Manager to add your FTP settings. I use Filezilla all the time - it is, to me, quite intuitive. I can try to help, but this forum is really for Serendipity support. You might get better Filezilla assistance from their support forum.
