Re: Alternative News site
That's probably the most intense implementation of Bulletproof I have ever seen! Nice job!

Re: Alternative News site
Don that is really top notch. Separate feeds for each section, great layering of ad and copy, everything was easily identified as individual sections, just great.

Re: Alternative News site
Thanks, my friend Ben and I worked on it for the past year. The design has evolved other year till we got it just right with the look. We plan on doing even more and making it more crisp and sleeker with new css3 tweaks. We like the fact we chose Sy over WP due the quantity of sites using it as a template background. I think Sy gives our site a unique look in the genre and it works awesome with google analytics, rpc, robots, spiders and etc... so we get a large percentage of traffic just based on searches.

Whoops, sorry I called you Don. But it's good, it's like accidentally calling you Yoda.
Anyhow. There's a media group in San Diego called SDNN (San Diego News Network) they've been hyped a lot but they are having a tough go at integrating ads. http://www.sdnn.com/
If you guys are willing to set up a site for clients I would approach them. Yours is the standard now.
Again, well done.

Re: Alternative News site
Thanks again for the kind words.. We are still learning and this was the first site we both designed from scratch. It's hard to keep up with the news and content for the site and refine the look and functions of it at the same time, learning as we go. That other news site looks put together well. We weren't sure how to accomplish certain things with s9y, so we are using a hybrid backbone for the content using feedburner to port featured content on the home page. This gives us flexibility and also acts as another service that pings the content across the web. It was cumbersome and tuff when we started building the site but it worked out in the long run once I got the process down.
The site has been up for a year and we are able to get a majority of articles as top searches on Google when users search with keywords related to our articles. Similar sites and blogs that have been around longer and have more traffic will show up below ours. I believe this is a testament to the s9y interaction with googles spiders, robots crawlers...whatever. Most blogs are WP and I don't see a large number showing up in searches.
