Hi.
Unfortunately I have not much knowlege about all this php and css programming.
I made a blog with a theme now. changed the background pic already, everything is fin so far. The background is aligned on the top left. My problem is that the middle part with the entries, comments etc and the column with the calendar, links etc is automatically shiftig around depending on the window size and the resolution. I want these parts to be at a fixed postition to work with the background pic. How can I do that?

There is also a pic (hr3.png) in the code which I would like to have fixed above the calendar.

Can anyone please help me?

Working fine with 1280x1024 resolution. But if you have another resolution or window size the text starts to shift left and right.
I know it´s a lot to ask but can anyone perhaps help correcting the code above, please? That would be a big help.

I think it would already help if I could say the middle part should have a border on the left. Like start at 300 pixels to the right. the heat pic above the calendar already shifts together with it. So It might already help if I could say the enties should start more on the right and keep the left space free....

Can you post a URL to your site? Is it powered by Serendpity? Your photobucket photo suggests it is a wordpress site.

If you give us a URL, it'll be a lot easier for us to help you out.

I'm afraid I'm also having some trouble understanding exactly what the problem is. If I'm correct, the width of some column or other is changing when you change the width of your browser; this causes the other columns to move horizontally.

This is known as "fluid width". A configuration where the widths of the columns cannot change is known as "fixed width". To convert your theme to a fixed width, you have to provide the widths of each container in a fixed form (not in percent).

However, it looks like this is already done in the CSS you've provided. To make any further conclusions, we'd have to visit your URL live.

Additionally, I'm having trouble identifying your template. It appears to be a WordPress setup. Are you trying to port your blog?

To learn CSS, I recommend installing Firefox with the FireBug plugin. You can actually modify your CSS in your browser and see the results immediately. It's a great learning tool.

At the moment I tried itin Wordpress. Tried it with Serendipity as well. But I think the style.css will be somewhat the same, right?

I got a pic with colors in the background now. It would be good if the text would start at the end of the green line

which means there should be a about 550 pixels from the left free space...

That depends. As far as I know, there is no port of the template in question for s9y. We have no idea what template you are using in your s9y installation, hence the confusion.

Basically, you're right - the CSS should be the same in both blog engines. But both a s9y template and a WP theme consist of more than just the CSS, and that might be interfering here.
