In configuration I checked Apache Rewriting instead of the default disable rewriting. Now I can not access the admin suite or my blog. Serendipity is reporting errors :

Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)include/db/mysql.inc.php on line 270,Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)/include/db/mysql.inc.php on line 271, and Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /html/serendipity/include/db/mysql.inc.php on line 281
serendipity error: unable to connect to database - exiting.

What can I do? I hope I have not lost he entire blog. Your help is greatly appreciated.

This has nothing to do with the URL rewriting. Check your serendipity_config_local.inc.php if your mysql account data is correct.

Thanks for the reply. Everything is the same with serendipity_config_local.inc.php. So maybe it is a temporary server glitch?

There was a problem with the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file! It had an old userID and password in it. But what would change it? I didn't overwrite the file. Could I have done it somehow in configuration in the Serendipity Admin Suite? Very curious.

Anyway thanks so much for the quick reply. It is resolved. I can live again. Yahoo!

The best,
Ed

Hi!

If you'Re using an older s9y version, your browser might have auto-filled in a different username/password it had stored earlier in the s9y configuration...?
