Somehow I lost the ability to install event plugins.
I get this message when I click install new plugin:

"Trying to open URL package_event_en.xml...
Fetched 284251 bytes from already existing file on your server. Saving file......(my URL)"

So I cannot install event plugin.

Sidebar plugins still working

I hope that you can help. Than You

Not all event plugins have configuration options... which plugin was it, and are you sure it didn't install?

Maybe I was not clear - it is not one -
I cannot install ANY EVENT plugins.

When I go to "Configure Plugins" and click:
"Click here to install a new event plugin"
I get teh messgae:

"Trying to open URL package_event_en.xml...
Fetched 284251 bytes from already existing file on your server. Saving file as...(my url))

It was working Ok until now - (Installing the Sidebar plugins is ok)

What version of serendipity are you running?

Server issues always give me headaches, but this sounds like a possible permission problem on the server..... just a guess right now.

Is the folder templates_c writeable?

Version 1.41

Templates_c is writable

The events plugin was working fine until today. Have not loaded anything since it worked last.

another point--

The Template_c directory is writable (777)
BUT

When I click on the file "package_event_en.xml" inside the templates-c folder the permisiions of that file are 664 and I cannot change them to 777 - just will not change! remains at 664.

The Templates-c folder remains at 777

An individual file having permissions 664 is fairly normal.... And I cannot emphasize enough my limited skills when it comes to server issues - I'm just trying to help. Let me poke around on some of my sites and see if I can find any correlation between your issue and anything I might be able to reproduce elsewhere.... meanwhile, if Garvin was online right now, he would probably already have the answer!!!

Hi!

You'll need to either contact your host provider to change the file permissiosn for you, or you could try using the "fixperm.php" script mentioned in the s9y.org FAQ.

I have found that if I disable "Spartacus" I get back the ability to install event plugins.
When I enable it then it gives the same message and I cannot install event plugins.

Something is wrong with "Spartacus"

Any Ideas what the problem is?

Hi!

Spartacus needs your server to write privileges for the templates_c direcotry and all files within, and if you want to download plugins, it must have write privileges to your plugins directory.

Also your server may not be firewalled to allow outgoing connections.

You can also download plugins manually from http://spartacus.s9y.org/

Garvin
