I'm using the AddThis RSS Feed button on my site. It's working fine, but within the RSS feed, the email comes through as nospam@example.com.

From reading earlier posts on nospam issues, I understand that an email is required by the RFC, and I have an email set in the blog configuration under the General Settings.

I do not have the Syndication plugin loaded since I'm using the AddThis RSS button, so I can't set an option there to hide/show the email.

Is there somewhere else that could be hiding the email from the AddThis RSS Feed?

Do I need to load the Syndication plugin, but hide it to set this option?

Serendipity's RSS will use the blog's email as the feed email. Make sure you've got it set, and update the feed to ensure that caching is not the problem.

Thanks for the response, but correct me if I'm wrong. By the blog's email you are referring to the email set within the adminstration-configuration-general settings-Blog's E-mail address.

If so, yes, that is set and I've checked and re-checked it multiple times.

There is also an email address under the "Personal Settings" section. That is set as well.

And another on the "User Profiles". That is set as well.

Yup, that's what I'm talking about. Sounds like you've got everything configured correctly. So, I must be thinking of the wrong thing.

Let's get some specifics. When you said you were using the AddThis RSS feed, I assumed you were talking about the AddThis button functionality provided by the BulletProof template. Are you using something else?

Could you describe the steps you take to display the feed? Then I can try it out on one of my test blogs and debug it more effectively.

Curiosity got the better of me so I decided to check this out. The answer appears to be that you deleted the syndication plugin.

If you want author email addresses to show up in your feeds, then you need to reinstall that plugin and set the option to "Show E-Mail addresses?" to yes. You can then place that plugin in the "hidden" column so it does not show on the frontend of your site.... but the email functionality will still work.

I would never want author email addresses going out in the feed personally, so I would never turn that on. Another option might be to use either the managing editor or webmaster email addresses... either of those only go out once for the entire feed.
