Keywords and categories

Hello:
I would like to know if there is a way to write some keywords to an article.
I am an information manager, and there is a difference between a classification or categorization, and keywords.
Is there a way to categorize an article: Sports-Tennis... and also write some keywords: Federer, Nadal...?

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi!

I believe you mean the concept of "Tagging"? Install the serendipity_event_freetag ("Tagging of entries") event plugin (throug spartacus / spartacus.s9y.org).

Garvin

Hello again, Garvin:
I notice that when I "Search" by a tag (for exemple, Federer), it doesn't find anything.
Tags work very well, but it doesn't find anything if I use the search.

Do I have to modify something?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi!

What's your URL? And you did search only for tags that you already assigned to entries, right?

Garvin

I am proving in http://localhost/serendipity

Yes: I assigned "Federer" to a Tenis article, as a tag. Then I searched, and it didn't find the article.
Nevertheless, I can click on the tag of the article, and surf from one tag to another, so they work.

Hi!

Ah, okay. The fulltextsearch does not search the tags. Fulltext search only searches on the text. To access the content by tags, you have the sidebar plugin for a tag cloud...

Ah, and it also doesn't search on Categories.

Is it for any reason? Can I do something to search everything? In my mind, I think that even the categories and tags should have more relevance than the text, in an inteligent search.

Or maybe have the possibility of advanced search?

These are just ideas...

Daniel

PS: I am noticing that one of the best things that make a difference between Serendipity and other softwares (CMS, blogs, wikis... any), is the fast and effective support. There is a lot of time that I have been discussing with other people that this tools have a lack of support. And you are really giving me a very good sensation! Thank you sincerely.

Hi!

We actually believe more in the concept to find fulltext only. If someone is interested in specific categories, we use the sidebar plugins so that he can view entry by categories/tags.

Technically, the fulltext search can be enhanced with event plugins and custom SQL syntaxes, but this is not something currently in development...

Thanks a lot for noticing. We really do try to get in touch with our users as good as possible. :-)
