Imagine you wrote about a css-functionality. Later, someone shows in the comment an additional way to achieve the same goal. If that comment wasn't the only one you maybe want to highlight it to be sure it gets attention.
There are some other cases in which such a feature could be quite useful. Think about criticizing the support of a company and getting a reaction to that blog-post from the support-division saying they are sorry or dealing with a lawsuit getting a reaction from the enemy or ... .

Not my idea. Scobble suggested something like this. A good one, I think. You agree?

PS: Don't know how to implement something like this. A tag in the db resulting in an additional css-class when parsing the comment?

A template can provide a class unique to the entry author, so that a comment made by the entry author is visually different from any other. By default, s9y uses threaded comments (although that can be changed to linear by any visitor).

I think I would prefer, as author, to reply to a particularly valuable comment noting its importance. In threaded view, that comment would then stand out compared to others.

That works. You could also edit your post and mention the comment. But that's not as comfortable as having such a functionality implemented. E.g. replying to such a comment only highlights it if there aren't too many comments, but the implementation could mention the comment at the beginning (or even take it from the normal list to a new one above the trackbacks).
