AdSense blind as a bat?

Hi.
A week ago or so I added little ads to my blog. However, on my main page http://www.besuchermag.net it seems like Google is blind, ignoring the
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->
<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
I read about this to limit adsense to only these content portions. But it displays ads in relation to posts long ago (as it seems).
Is this normal behavior? Did I make a mistake?
