Hi all
i am struggeling installing Serendipity, unable to get pass the installation, it keeps on telling me that username bad for database "serendipity". it's most likely because the database does not exist on the server...
is there perhaps a file that i can run from the server to create the database?
like if i copy this file to the server and then type it into my browser...?

Hi!
The database must exist (and be empty; the s9y installer will fill it with tables). you must let them create through your provider first, like using a tool like phpMyAdmin.

well ok,
is there a way that i can create the database without my provider?
a friend of mine is hosting my website for me, and i have sent him an sms, but he have not responded yet...
perhaps i should just wait for him...
or could i do it with phpmyadmin if i have a username and password to login via ftp to my website? but i don't think my username will have rights to create or do anything with the databasis...

Just a quick question, if i get the installation done, would i be able to rename the folder the files are in to something else without screwing up the whole thing?

Hi!
You should wait for your provider in this case.

Yes, see the FAQ on s9y.org for "move serendipity". It would be better though to install s9y into the rigt directory from scratch, because moving requires you to do some search+replace for old and new paths.
