Is there a way to allow attachments in comments?

I looked into the BBCode options and, at the phpBB site I see this:
"Adding attachments into a post
Attachments can now be placed in any part of a post by using the new [attachment=][/attachment] BBCode, if the attachments functionality has been enabled by a board administrator and if you are given the appropriate permissions to create attachments. Within the posting screen is a drop-down box (respectively a button) for placing attachments inline."

Does Serendipity have this functionality?

Hi!

No, Serendipity does not offer this, I'm sorry. It's a quite complicated thing to add, because it also is a security risk and might take up much bandwidth and storage space once you allow that to visitors.

Regards,
Garvin

Ok, thank you for the reply.
I have embedded Serenity in a page that requires authentication.
I was not really intending for anyone to be allowed to post a comment but only those who have authenticated and I was trying to make it easy for users (logged in) to post a comment to an entry and an attachment, too.

Nonetheless, I understand the implications of allowing comments to have attachments and, again, I thank you for the quick reply.

If you allow BBCode in your comments, the users can at least link to other files. They can use a service such as nopaste.net to upload the attachment.
