Trying serendipity I thought it could have unlimited separate blogs. But I think it's not true because the data (images, category...) are common for every user and different category are not blog. So without mod it can't be use for kind of blog hoster for a community because each publisher can errase data from the ther one

Is my understanding ok ?

Yes and No.

You can have unlimited serpeate blogs, by using the shared installation feature of Serendipity. This is described in our documentation on www.s9y.org, please look it up.

You will however have no common interface for the unlimited blogs, as they all operate on their own with their own database and tables. They only share the PHP codebase and like a PEAR package.
