Cannot get Quicksearch to search

I use a hosted site which provides Serendipity as part of its offerings.

I installed Serendipity fine and am using the Bulletproof template which also seems to be working fine.

However, when I put a search term in the Quicksearch box it returns no hits. I have only put in two entries and I am entering a word I know is there. The search seems to search and then returns no hits at all.

Any ideas? The search function is rather critical for what I am trying to do and this is driving me nuts!
