Hi!
Not out of the box, no. But this is a cool feature that has not yet been asked for, so I added it to the upcomming next s9y version.
The changes are quite small, if you want to manually patch that, you can simply download those files:
include/tpl/config_local.inc.php:
http://svn.berlios.de/viewcvs/*checkout ... al.inc.php
include/functions_comments.inc.php:
http://svn.berlios.de/viewcvs/*checkout ... ts.inc.php
Those two files will work properly also on a 1.3.1 installation. In the configuration screen you now have an option "Yes", "No", "Fulltext" for "Allow subscriptions to this blog".
HTH,
Garvin

This seems to be the standard behaviour of wordpress. (Users coming from that software complained about the behaviour of s9y).

I'll try that, when I am at home again.
Thanks again for your fast support

I personally always preferred to go to the actual blog to read the comment, because the markup there would be proper, and I could see the context. But I do see the use of it

There are advantages for both behaviours.
I can understand, that people only want to go to the blog, when they have to add a comment or find a comment which is worth replying.

While most comments are brief, I would not have minded a choice between "full" text and "abbreviated" or "truncated". Its one thing give a "hint" at what the comment is, but I can see wanting to bring users to the site to read the comment as it results in more page views.

Sure, but most comments in my blog are as short as an abbreviation could be. So I win nothing ... I win nothing with more page views either.

Hi,
would it be possible to change the default behavior of the notification function to send fulltext notifications?
Thanks
Dirk

Hi!
Hm, I don'T really want to change the default behaviour - from what I've been reported, many people need the Clicks (Ads) by people on their blog...I think this is a feature that shoud be set by the blog owner by choice...

Garvin

The majority of people don't need the clicks ...
Cheers

On the one hand: why not have these people set it to shortened comments manually?
On the other hand: there are some comments (see comment by Grischa on s9ycamp.info :wink) which I personally wouldn't want to receive via email in full length ...
Maybe there's a way to handle this on the user's side? Like adding another form field if someone subscribes to comments via email to choose between receiving full or shortened comments? Just a thought.
