How to prevent automatic registrations?

Hi,

I am using the "User Self-Registration"-Plugin with new users having to be approved by me. SPAMMERS now try and register themeselves using scripts. Unfortunately they abuse third party PCs, so blocking them via iptables won't work. The plugin itself doesn't offer any spam prevention measurements. I wonder if there is any solution so that I can offer new users a challenge when registering.

Any Ideas?

Hi!

Actually I think it should be possible to allow captchas from the spamblock plugin in the plugin. Would that be a good way for you? If so, I could have a try at implementing it.

Garvin

That would be just perfect! I didn't expect anyone to really start coding but I would of course highly appreciate any such efforts :-)

It's just working fine :-) I recently got flooded by abusive registrations and your improvement should solve this problem.

Thank you again :)

Actually, why don't you report back after some period of time and let us all know if it did, in fact, reduce/eliminate the abuse.
