Even when my post is short, i.e., there is no extended entry, serendipity runs a "Continue reading" etc. link at the bottom of the post.

Is this by design? Is there a way to disable this for short posts?

Which Serendipity Version are you using? Which template are you using? Are you using the WYSIWYG editor? Did you make sure you also did not enter any SPACES/NEWLINES into your extended entry screen?

This can really only happen if you insert characters (even blank ones)into the extended entry section. Make sure you're using the latest 0.8 serendipity version with the updated WYSIWYG editor, if you have th eWYSIWYG editor active.

The problem was created by the markdown plugin. when I uninstalled it, the "continued" problem went away.

thanks for causing me to think along these lines.

Hi! Thanks for you finding this out! I just fixed the markdown plugin to not do its transforms on empty elements! :)
