cut tag in "entry body"?

Post by kuilef »

Hello, I didn't found the <cut> tag
I want to write all text in Entire body and place there a cut-tag, so all text after tag would writed down in "Extended body".

I mean, is there analogue of lj-tag and others? If not, read it as Feature Request :)
Thanks very much for any recommendations!

That's because there is no such tag in s9y :)

I don't know where you found this concept implemented, but I think it would be highly confusing. Personally, I really prefer to have seperate text windows in the entry editor for entry body and extended entry ...

This notion of a <cut> tag, or <lj-cut> seems to be rooted in Live Journal. But as Yellowled points out, Serendipity already provides this functionality in a much easier to use form.... that being, the concept of "entry body" and "extended body". When using both, most authors will use the "entry body" as a "teaser" or "introduction"... perhaps the most meaningful "who/what/where/when" of an article, usually the first few sentences or first few brief paragraphs. They will then use the "extended body" for the "meat" of the entry. Most (but not all) templates will then display the entry body on overview page types, such as your site's front page, category specific pages, etc, with a link that often looks like "Continue Reading ARTICLE_TITLE..." where ARTICLE_TITLE equals the actual article/entry title. You do not need to use any tag to accomplish this behavior - it is provided by a combination of Serendipity and the template you are using - provided the template has made a provision for both entry and extended body text.

Hi!

Also check the serendipity_event_splitentry plugin, it can provide cut-tags.

Garvin, in serendipity_event_entrysplit plugin that function only works if cut-tag placed in the extended body, not entry-body.
