Entry not showing up

I am wondering why an entry doesn't show up. I made one on the 18th and two days later a friend let me know it wasn't showing. The calendar as well as catagories show it but when clicked on it isn't there.
I did everything the same as the other entries and have tied different ways since to no avail.

The URL would be useful so we can see what's going on.

Wow, very nice drawings.
Have you by any chance put the date of the missing post into the future ?

No, it was the current date, I also tried the past date (two days later). I did once before and no problem. I know I can post again as the 21st but wonder if I will have trouble in the future.
I use Firefox and would use IE to see if it showed up, however IE will show the same thing. This morning I used Opera and it shows the entry missing, so at least I can use it in the future to check postings. (hopefully)
This is one thing I liked about Serendipity..I could go back and have things in order if need. I am not a whiz at this type of thing and cannot think of one thing that I did differently.

Here is the latest on this problem of mine. It will not post my entry in the past or in the present time. I made a test entry and it took.
I tried making another test entry in the past (18th) and it didn't take. I then thought I would make another test entry in the past (18th) and just one step at a time.
It works......until I assign it a category...then it is gone. I am not doing anything differently than I did on my other posts. At this point I think I will delete the category and remake it.

Here is the latest....No entries are showing if they are put into a category. As long as I post them in 'no category' they show. Anyone have any ideas.

That is an extremely odd problem. I'm leaning toward an .htaccess problem, but I don't really have a justification for that.
It's also a little unusual that both "Portraits" and "Landscapes" claim to have articles, but don't show them in the category view.
Can you tell us the URL of the entry itself? If you know the article number, we can build a valid URL ourselves.
What version of Serendipity are you using? What database? What event plugins are installed, and in what order?

Hi!
Do you find this entry in your backend suite? If yes, edit it and check if you enabled any settings in the "Advanced options" section? Maybe you've enabled that the entry can only be viewed by logged in authors?

Garvin

Hi Judebert and Garvin, will keep this short and simple. I am not going to be able to keep up with you guys and don't want to waste your time. I am proud of what I have accomplished but feel that Serendipity must be very fragile.
At this point I believe Serendipity is the best (I tried Word Press) and since I only have about seven entries and only one comment (from a friend), I think I will try deleting everything and begining over. I just remembered the ordeal of installing so I may not do that. If this works then great, if not then I will move on. If it works...I may be back with another question.
Thanks for everyone's time and effort...I know how that can get as I do the same on a forum.

Hi!
Good luck then! Sadly we can only help those that want to be helped, and put the same effort that we that we do to try to help...
I'm quite sure the problem is not Serendipity itself, but the use of the "Extended options" of that single entry. If you decide to come back with some fresh motivation, we're here.

Garvin

It would be worth checking the read permissions set for the category before you delete everything and restart.
Go to your admin interface and edit the category in question and make sure that the read permission is granted to all.

Well..I think I am back in business thanks to Sonic House.
I was reading in another Blog Software (didn't think it was as good or easy as Serendipity) and I came back here to check something where I noticed the latest replies. I tried the suggestion by Sonichouse and it has done the trick I believe.
I have been over five weeks researching blog software and freebies and in trying to get somethng to work with my limited knowledge. I have a new position in a large forum with pressing duties and so many other things going on...I am consequently very sleep deprived and much behind...and I just want this to work so I can move on.
Thanks guys..and I forgot to say thanks to Sonichouse or his kind comment about my work.

Hi!
Not to be picky (in fact, to be!

), but what sonicehouse mentioned was also contained in my posting before that, where I asked about your "Extended options" section and if restrictions where enabled there.
But thanks to you for posting again. Sometimes everything can resolve easily!

Garvin
