Why Only 21 Plug-Ins Available

For some reason when I try to configure and manage plug-ins on the Serendipity website I only see 21 available. I read there are over 100 or 200. Any thoughts?

Hi
you should enable the SPARTACUS event plugin This will give you access to all the plugins.

Thanks for this... I couldn't figure out how to get the Markup: Mobile Output plugin installed.
only problem is that I was getting an error about sourgeforge not being available. in the end I simply downloaded the plugin, unzipped, ftp'ed over to my serendipity plugins folder and then I was able to add/administer it via the serendipity admin gui (that is, after i disabled the spartacus plugin so that it would stop bombing out on sourceforge.net)

Alpay, SPARTACUS is really cool, but I also like to browse
http://spartacus.s9y.org too - it beats the heck outta sourceforge and I like having the category menu on the side of the page.

yeah, that's actually how i manually downloaded the
Mobile Output plugin. I wasn't trying to go to sourceforge myself, serendipity's spartacus plugin was complaining that it couldn't connect to sourceforge when I tried to add the
Mobile Output plugin via the admin gui.
Doing things manually from
http://spartacus.s9y.org was quite easy. i'm not sure why i didn't meet with success though...
btw, here's the error from the spartacus plugin. thanks.
Trying to open URL package_event_en.xml...
The URL
http://netmirror.org/mirror/serendipity ... ent_en.xml (IP 212.227.94.132) could not be opened. Maybe the Serendipity or SourceForge.net Server is down - we are sorry, you need to try again later.
Unable to retrieve data from SPARTACUS repository. Checking for repository availability on
http://netmirror.org/mirror/serendipity/last.txt.
SPARTACUS attempted to connect to Google and failed (error 13: Permission denied).
Your server is blocking outgoing connections. SPARTACUS will not function because it cannot contact the SPARTACUS repository. Please contact your website provider and ask them to allow outgoing connections to web sites.
Plugins can still be installed from your local directories. Simply download the plugin from the SPARTACUS web repository, unzip it, and upload the files to your Serendipity plugin directory.

The important part of that message is:
SPARTACUS attempted to connect to Google and failed (error 13: Permission denied).
Your server is blocking outgoing connections. SPARTACUS will not function because it cannot contact the SPARTACUS repository. Please contact your website provider and ask them to allow outgoing connections to web sites.
It tells you exactly what's going on: SPARTACUS can't make outgoing connections, because your web provider is blocking it.
If you can get them to open port 80 to netmirror.org (outgoing), SPARTACUS will be able to connect with its repository and automatically install plugins and themes for you.

Well, it is kinda buried in there. And it's old; nobody uses the SourceForge mirror any more. It's not surprising that people miss it.
But it's better than what we had before! At least now it's possible to tell whether the problem is directory permissions, repository problems, or provider blocking.
I hope I wasn't perceived as condescending; I assure you that was not my intention. I just wanted to point out the problem, so you and future others with the same problem can see what to do.

oh, not at all! and hey, even if you were kind of a jerk, I'm the one that's here to learn so I'd be grateful for your info anyway. but no, there was nothing condescending about your msg at all. group hug?

seriously, thanks for the help, i'm excited to get things up and running. I'm like a kid with a new toy... or a kid with a new blog, as it were.
