Link to external wmv file

I am trying to create a link to a .wmv file that resides on another website within my blog that when clicked will pop up in a new window. I have the address, no problem there.

Once again, I have searched through the forums, but I'm not finding what I need, so please forgive me if the answer is there, I'm not having any luck.

I have added HTML code directly to the entry, but serendipity keeps getting rid of it. I don't want to load the file to my server and then use the "Media" option, my server is not as fast as the other website...how do I create a link to a .wmv file or a .mov file on another site?

Thanks in advance for any help given...

Mac

Hi!

It's usually not Serendipity ridding of your HTML, but the WYSIWYG component. You might need to disable it when you create entries with <embed> or <object> tags, because WYSIWYG editors often swallow it whole.

Or you switch to a WYISIWYG editor like TinyMCE.

Garvin,

I have the WYSIWYG turned off in the personal settings...is there something else I must do? It was that way all along...

Hi!

What exactly are you entered then as Code in your articles, and how does it look when you open it in your blog? Can you give the URL to see the output?

It might also depend on the event plugins you are using, which ones do you have enabled?

Garvin

Garvin,

Uhhhh....I think I'm in a bit over my head, but here goes:

<a href="http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Cros ... nation.wmv" target="blank">wmv</a>

Is the code that I'm using for the link...."wmv" is what I want the user to click to open up that movie in a new window.

Whenever I put it in my blog, it disappears after saving it and viewing the the weblog. It remains visible in the editor after clicking on "Save" but nothing appears when you view the weblog and when you return to the edit screen all traces are gone.

As for enabled Even Plugins:
Markup: Serendipity
Markup: Emoticate
Markup: NL2BR
Browser Compatability
Spam Protector
Spartacus
Link List
Static Pages

Those are what show as enabled, none are disabled.

Am I out to lunch here?

Hi!

What's your blog's URL with that entry where it disappears? I'd like to have a look, this should not happen.

Your plugins do not seem to be involved in this.
