Ported: criterion (with tutorial)

I think I love Free CSS Templates. I just finished cleaning up criterion for my own website (yes, it's supposed to be lowercase).

I made it a Bulletproof colorset instead of a standalone template. Why reinvent the wheel?

And it was dirt easy to do, with the help of FireBug. This was my first port, and I was so surprised at how effortlessly it all came together that I wrote a tutorial on how to make Bulletproof colorset themes for Serendipity.

The article contains a download link at the bottom. If the BP devs want to add it to s9y-bulletproof.com, I'd be... well, honored.

This was a highly rewarding experience. I recommend porting colorsets to the Bulletproof template to anyone who wants to get involved in s9y.

Nice job judebert! And an interesting idea to use bulletproof for that. I'm also on porting again and maybe it is usefull to go trough your tutorial. Thanks for that nice port and tutorial.

Greetings, Lordcoffee

http://www.opendesigns.org/ is also nice :)

Yes, Free CSS Templates is nice, especially if you can get a template which is already available for that other blog engine, giving you more to port without having to think creatively (is that a word?).

Great job, Jude. Also with the porting tutorial, I guess we're going to have to link to that in an entry on s9y-bulletproof.com soon :-)

Definitely. Given the time zone thing, you should probably contact Don about that.

Of course, doing "just" a colorset gives you certain limitations, but it's definitely a great alternative to doing a "stand-alone template". Also spares you the hassle of having to update your BP-based template every time we have to update BP :)

In fact, I'd recommend doing a colorset whenever possible. It saves time, nerves, and space on the download servers since an additional colorset zipfile only has to contain the files needed for that additional colorset - and it will (probably) work with any BP version.

Thanks for the kind words! (And: "creatively" is definitely a word.)

The only downside of a colorset is that it's not installable through SPARTACUS. Or any other automatic installation.

And it doesn't get its own options to use with the template drop-down.

But really, that's it. I can't think of any general configuration that BP doesn't support.
