hi.
Im using your webhotel and like your servis
and system a lot. I have 1
problem, I´m using a web system from http://www.s9y.or
g/, I´m writing on
Icelandic and some of my letters dont work,
(see calander) I cant fix this
problem because of this LOCALES thing, can
you fix this ?

that was on S9y.org forum.
The dates / weeknames are not displayed according
to my language, but all
other things display correctly!

To display date and time formats specific
to national conventions,
Serendipity uses a system called "Locales".
This system is both available on
Linux and Windows and adjusts the native
language of the system. A system
can contain multiple locales to choose from,
and Serendipity employs them
via the "LOCALES" constant found in your
lang/serendipity_lang_XX.inc.php.

This means, one of the Locales specified
there need to be existing on your
server. You will need to ask your System
administrator to install the locale
you want to use or install it yourself with
tools like "localegen".

Hi,

According to our technical team, our systems
are working just fine. We've put a file on
your account to show this:

http://www.ingthor.com/lang/test.php

This means that it is either your configuration
which is wrong or there is some bug in serendipity,
the system that you use. Thus, you should
ask the developers of serendipity directly
regarding this issue.

Best Regards

Hi!

Please ask them which locales they have installed. Serendipity requries those locales:

is_IS.UTF-8, is_IS.UTF8, icelandic, is, is_IS

If they do not have one of the first two ones, the output under your UTF-8 environment will be wrong.

Garvin
