Password Protect Body of an Entry.

Post by wsca »

Hi, I need some help! I am very much a novice and knowledge is very much limited. What I like do is to allow the public (everyone) to view the Title of entry but in some situations, I would like to password protected the Body so that a reader who wants to view a particular Body entry will need to enter their own UserName and Password. - Thanks

Hi!

Protecting the Body does not work with s9y currently, but you can protect the "Extended Entry", when you install the event-plug9in "Extended properties for entries", then you have an input field "passwort" for postings.

I am also a novice with s9y, but as I am currently experimenting with the static-pages plugin I can report, that this also has a feature to protect single pages with a password.
On the other hand, the static pages don't appear in the same way ay the normal blog-entries, so you'll have to find out yourself, if this would fit your needs

Cheers,
Manfred.

I saw that feature in "Extended Entry". However, I want each reader to have their own user name and password not one password for all. That way I can remove an individual reader while allow other to read the Blog. The only way I can see doing it, is to use .htaccess & .htpasswd which will make the whole blog private. I would like some part of it to be public. -- Thanks for the help.

This is not supported.

You can create serendipity authors instead, assign them to a usergroup, and then use the extended properties plugin to set read/write privileges for specific users/groups. Then a reader has to login to your serendipity site to read those entries.
