Manually allow comments for new users

Hello everyone.
A few days ago I switched my website to s9y. To restrict the comment function I found and installed the user self-registration plugin. The user is put into a group "User" which has no rights (i.e. all checkboxes are unchecked in this group) and the user is disabled. However the user is still able to comment after registration.

Is there any possibility to change that behaviour so that I my permission is required to enable comments for that user?

Thanks for your answers.

Hi!

You can enable the anti-spam plugin, and then configure that plugin to auto-moderate all spam (through the various options, like by enforcing auto-moderation after 1 day. anything, apart frmo the emergency switch ;).

Then you can configure in that plugin, to which usergroups the anti-.spam measurements to not apply. There you can choose all usergroups except teh "User" usergroup.

Thanks for your reply. I guess this solution is quite good for a start. But if I understand correctly, the spam-filter trashes the comment after the user has written it, right? Seems quite unfair to me. ;) Isn't there any way to completly disable the comment box for a group?

Hi!

That depends if you configured "rejecT" or "moderate2". Moderate comments are stored in the DB.

I don't know an existing plugin that disables the comment box. But a plugin for this could easily be written, maybe half an hour's work.
