Newbie needs static page help

When I first set up Serendipity I checked the box "Make this the front page"

Now I want to create a static page for the front page of the install. Have made 3 attempts at this, but when I click on "Make this the front page" I get the page with the name that I assigned (in this case Home) but no content.

Instead, I get the following error:

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "file:/home/content/j/o/e/joestallard3/html/templates/brownpaper/" in /home/content/j/o/e/joestallard3/html/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Same error with different templates.

What do I need to do to fix? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Which pagetype did you assign to your staticpage? It seems you selected a pagetype that has no template file assigned. Use one of the default pagetypes like "Overview" for that page, then the error should go away.

Garvin-

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it turns out.

By the way, I think Serendipity is tops.

Hi Joe!

Thanks a lot. Good luck with it! :)

If that doesn't help, maybe you need to check the other event plugins you have installed and make sure the staticpage event plugin is the first event plugin in your queue. It might also help to check all existing staticpages that there is only one page that is marked as "show as startpage".
