Google Analytics not working

Post by koltregaskes »

Hello,

I installed Google Analytics plugin ages ago, but not checked in the the Google Analytics page until today. When I log in all the stats are zero.

Anyone know what is wrong? My blog is www.squashyfrog.com/blog

Hi!

You did claim your blog properly and entered the right analytics code there? Use the google analytics check and let it tell you if everything'S right on your end.

Hi Garvin,

Ga says: The Google Analytics tracking code has not been detected on your website's home page. For Analytics to function, you or your web administrator must add the code to each page of your website.

On the plugin page I have ticked Entry Body, Extended Body, Comment and HTML Nugget as Yes.

Do I need to do anything else?

Hi!

Check if the Urchin-Tracker code in your HTML page output matches the one that google analytics tells you, especially if the _uacct matches.

Shouldn't the plugin do all this for me?

Hi there,

Because you enter your account number when you set it up.

Hi!

So does the account number match?

There must be some information about why google analytics does not pick up your code.

I've had a look at the HTML, the account number is fine but the code has been placed above the </head>.

Any ideas why it's done this and how do I correct it with the plugin?

Hi!

To test if this is really the case, could you edit the index.tpl file of your template and place the required code there?

If that works, I can try to change the plugin so that it emits its code there. In the past, analytics parsed the code anywhere in the HTML just fine.

Garvin

Hi!

Then you can put the templates/default/index.tpl template file in your directory and edit that one.

Hi!

Sadly I haven't. Please contact the Google support to ask them what the trouble is. You are really sure that you'Re using the right analytics ID inside the script?
