I like to limit the number of entries on the first page of my blog; I feel it creates a cleaner page for visitors.
My challenge is that both my wife and I post entries, and I would like to be able to limit the number of entries on the first page to, say, 3 per author.
The blog's "largest" audience is among our family and friends, who may not visit more than once per week, and are in some cases just now learning how to get on the internet. By posting a new entry, I may push a recent entry from my wife to the second page, and some of her family members may not realize that they've missed a post.
Since our entries are frequently covering very different subjects, I also feel it'd be a lot nicer for web-savvy visitors if our entries didn't compete for space on the front page.
Is there a way to set the number of entries per page by author? and if not how difficult would this be to program?

Is this possible?

Re: Is this possible?
Using Serendipity 0.8 you can enter the amount of entries per Page in the Configuration Section.
However you will not be able to say "3 entries from Author X and 3 entries from Author Y". Even this would be possible via a plugin, the amount of work need to be done for this exceeds the amount of usefulness, so at least I can't put this on my todo list...
Instead I suggest you to tell those people to visit the author page of your wife and you. So they will see only your entries or only those of your wife. You could also use posting categories to tell who is posting. That is the usual way how bloggers to this, as the startup page is usually only containing the latest entries. A blog is sorted chronologically, so you can't easily interfere there. I'd know no blog application where this is possible, either...
