Request - Help with comment integration to SMF

This may or may not get off the ground, but I am wondering whether anyone has an idea for how to do the following:
1) When a Serendipity article is posted, post a new thread in an SMF forum.
2) Add a "Comments" link to the bottom of the article that links to the newly created forum topic.
We are trying to figure out a way to integrate the website so that all the commentary ends up on the SMF site to avoid having to duplicate users or actually bridge the two pieces of software. The Serendipity comments section is nice, but not exactly what we are looking for.
I've thought about doing this with the RSS feeds out of Serendipity (SMF has an add-on RSS importer), but getting each comment to post to the same topic, and only post a single time, is the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am asking at the SMF forums as well.
Peace.
