Problems installing Serendepity

Please can someoneone help. I have tried about three scripts for installing a blog on my site. Some are easy to install and others not. I am looking for a script that people can post blogs for my diving club and also add pictures.

I loaded Serendepity on my local server on my pc and it seemed to work fine at first. Somehow I uninstalled it and reloaded it, first to a virtual host which gave me problems, I think it has something to do with my .htaccess file. I tried installing on the local host htdocs but had the same problems. When I go to the weblog I loose the webpage format (css). My idex looks like this.

I tried installing it on my external host and got a number of errors which asked me to grant permission to make certain folders and files writeable. I tried doing it through my ftp program but was told I didn't have permission.

I am totally lost, not sure what and how to change .htacces (read article on FAQ) and exactly what it does and secondly how to install on my external host. I tried installing in on my localhost and then to upload the site to my external host, but I still have the problems I mentioned earlier.

Advise please

Hi!

If you could give us your URL, we might be able to help. Try to delete your .htaccess file and in the s9y configuration of your s9y backend, make sure you have NOT enabled the "Embed" option and you have set URL Rewriting to "NONE".

If you can't apply sufficient privileges, you might need to ask your hoster what's up with that.

Hi Garvin

I managed to sort out my installation on my external host. Is there a way I can synchronise it with a installation on my pc which will be easier on test and learn on.
