Flickr plugin broke my site and my admin

Hi,

I installed the Flickr Sidebar plugin and now I have lost my sidebar on my site, and I also can no longer see my event plugins on the configure plugins page in my admin panel. I also can't see the Flickr plugin and cannot uninstall any plugins at all. I have tried deleting the Flickr plugin directory, but no change.

Admittedly, I made the same mistake others have made, and didn't install the extra PEAR files, but I followed the instructions on this post: http://board.s9y.org/viewtopic.php?t=32 ... ght=flickr and still didn't have any luck.

My site is zoeselina.com and I would very much appreciate any help anyone can give me on how to get my site back up and running.

Hi!

Are you sure you deleted the flickr plugin directory? It does not look like it, the plugin still emits its output. That can only happen if the file still exists.

Because it didn't do anything, I thought maybe it would make it worse, so I put it back. I have deleted it again now, but nothing has changed.

Hi!

It is still there.

Look at the HTML source of your page:

Code: Select all

<!-- serendipity_plugin_flickr Cache Miss -->
As long as this code is there, the serendipity_plugin_flickr directory still exists.

Duh! There were some hidden files that were preventing me from deleting the directory. It's deleted now and the site is back to normal. Thanks for your help. Now I shall start again...

Okay, so I deleted everything and started again, but had the same problem even though I had the PEAR files right this time. I don't get any error messages, my sidebar just disappears and I lose the ability to do anything with my plugins on the admin side.

Any ideas?

Hi!

Did you install the plugin through Spartacs, or did you download the plugin manually and put it on your site?

It might be that your server is simply firewalled and thus the flickr plugin can't work...

Originally I tried installing it with Spartacus, and that caused the problems listed above.

I have now also tried installing it manually, but this just doesn't do anything. The plugin doesn't show up in my admin and there is no change in my side bar.
