Trouble Installing Link List

Post by ericdeleon »

When I try to install Link List through the configure plugins option, I keep getting this message:

Trying to open URL package_event_en.xml...

Below is a list of installed plugins

I'm completely new to anything and everything concerning blogs, so if you could help out in any way, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi!

Did you do, what the error message tells you? :)

You must make your "plugins" directory writable (chmod 777).

Hi!

Using your FTP client and the "CHMOD" command. You might want to google for "ftp chmod", thatmight help.

Well, I learned how to use the CHMOD, however, it still won't allow me to make the plugins file writable.

I get this message when I set it to write:

550 CHMOD 777 plugins: Operation not permitted

I'm using smart FTP, if it matters.

Thanks to you guys, I've learned a great deal about what and FTP is and how to use one...ahem...since I know so little about anything. So thanks a lot.

Hi!

If you get that error, you must ask your server provider to adjust permissions for you. Usually, your FTP account should be allowed to chmod things.

HTH,
