Delete "Posted by..." line?

Hello, I am using s9y as an application on the godaddy.com hosting service. Although there are no real directions, I am learning by the seat of my pants, and so far so good. I am just now creating my blog. I have entered what I want to be the opening or general statement on what the blog is about. But at the end of that statement is the "posted by name, date, etc" line...I want to delete that line in that entry. How can I do that?
I have found anything that seems to be intuitive for doing that. Any help will be appreciated....and any input from godaddy custoemers who are using s9y also will be appeciated. Thank you!

You can only delete that line if you use our recent 0.8 versions of Serendipity. There you can edit the 'entries.tpl' file of your template directory (or 'default' if yours doesn't contain it - see our Templating instructions on www.s9y.org for details)

For 0.7 you can adjust the CSS code to set that block to 'display: none'. The class is called something like 'serendipityEntryFooter' or so, look at the HTML output :)

Great that you enjoy Serendipity! :)

Garvin

Thanks Garvin...more info?

Thank you Garvin.
I am currently using s9y as application on the GoDaddy web site. There are no instructions on using s9y or on how to upload it to my web site. Would I be better off using s9y as a stand alone on my computer and then uploading to my web site? Where can I find some instructions or a tutorial fo running s9y? This all seems so complicated a process for publishing a blog. Thank you again.

Okay, I did not know that GoDaddy was offering it as a standalone application.

So in this case, if you have no FTP access to the templates and/or CSS styles you will not be able to modify the application. In the future we will try to add a integrated CSS/Template editor, but this is currently not doable and also has some security implications.

Installing Serendipity is really easy - please read the installation docs on our Wiki on www.s9y.org. Basically you just unzip all the files of our isntallation file and then open your browser and open that directory via HTTP - the rest of the installation is automatically guided.

Garvin

Garvin thank you again. I don't think installation will be a problem.
I guess what I need are instructions for using it, templates, etc. and then saving and uploading. Is that available?

Using it is automated more or less - when you install it you choose a username/password and then you just login using the usr/pass you chose and start typing away. It's really self-explanatory.
As for templates, it depends on what you want to do. Using the already existing ones is as simple as the installation - there is a template-chooser menu on your admin-page. Saving and uploading? I don't really know what you refer to here, but what you probably seek is an FTP program. You can download one from here - you should've gotten the username/password and host for it when you signed up for GoDaddy.

Good luck, post again if you don't understand something.

Thanks!

Thank you....that's the kind of information I'm looking for. I think I'm just being a little too dense and making it more complicated that necessary. I'll try this routine and if I run into problems, I will indeed post again...everyone here has been quite helpful. Thanks!
