Changing default length of displayed portion of post

Quick and I'm sure easy question... I've got a few large posts so far and i would like the front page to only show the first paragraph or two and then have the link at the bottom of each to the 'extended' view. I can see that it already has this feature built in as it did it automatically for the largest of my posts but there was still way too much shown. How do I shorten the how much is shown for all posts?

You can split your entries into the "body" and the "extended" part. Just put the "few paragraphs" into the body section, and the rest into the "extended" part.
