Preview within Google's TOS?

Post by Michele2 »

It can sometimes be a challenge to work on a site and not click on the advertising by mistake.

I had worried that the HTML Nuggets with Adsense in them being shown on the preview screen could lead to unintentional clicks. I just posted my 50th entry and sure enough I accidentally clicked an ad when the page resized.

I doubt it is within Google's TOS to have ads showing in the admin area particularly since we as publishers are not permitted to click on our own ads.

Has anyone contacted Google (or any of the other advertising networks) and asked about this?

Can I disable them from showing in preview or something other than turning them on and off each time I create and entry?

This would seem to be a major bug in the program and I would hate to get my account banned because of something like this.

I'm using the HTML Nugget on Page plug-in, it puts the ads before and after the entry. It is putting those ads in the preview window.

Here's an example,

It's also putting an ad at the end of the entry like I want it to do on the public version.

Since this is not embedded in the actual post I don't understand why anyone would want it to be part of the preview. I would also think it is totally against the TOS.

The ads served do not pick up the content of the post. They appear to be picking up the core content of the entry editing page often serving ads for password stuff, security, and the keyword serendipity. Which makes having them in the preview even more useless.

Hi!

Ah, now I understand. Well, the best way would be to patch the HTML Nugget on Page plugin to be not executed in preview. That's a quickie done in a few minutes. If you can please remind me of it next week I'll patch it for you. Right now I don't have the time. :)

Best regards,
Garvin

Thank you Garvin that would be good. I will remind you next week.

BTW, I've never been able to figure out how to get a static block to work, but I would really like to put Google, Amazon or some other advertising into the body of the post. Would those ads also appear in the preview?

How did you proceed in this, what did you try and where did it fail=

Yes, it would also be shown in preview. Actually, most plugins that execute in the frontend also execute in the preview (because that's the sense of a preview ;)).
