New entries appear only as Drafts

Just downloaded and installed the Serendipity blog.
When I create a new entry the only option for it is to make it a draft. I have the setting in preferences set to "publish", but it doesn't work. Also, when I try to edit it, there is no option to publish (only draft).
I don't have any plugins installed.
Of course I can use phpmyadmin to change the setting in the mysql database, but that is a pain in the neck if I've got to do that every time I post a new blog entry.

Hi!
You might be affected by a bug in the 1.2 versions of s9y. This bug improperly set the "Allow user to publish entries" value to a false one if you changed anythign in your personal preferences.
This was fixed in recent snapshots and beta3, so please upgrade to that version. To fix the wrong setting, you should be able to enter the "User configuration" panel, choose your user to edit him, and there set the option to "Yes" again for allowing to publish entries.
HTH,
Garvin

I downloaded and upgraded to beta3 and am still having the same problem.

Did you change the setting, Garvin mentioned? I guess the upgrade only fixes the bug setting the user's default value to "not publishing" but doesn't change the value once set by former installations.

Yes, I did that as well.
And I also changed it back and forth several times just to make sure and re-tested.

Hi!
Can you please make a screenshot of the page when you go to:
Serendipity Admin Suite > Configure User > Click on "Edit" for your current user.
I'm interested especially in what the dropdown for your userlevel and the field "Right: Allow to publish entries" are set to.
Best regards,
Garvin

Ahhh... that was the problem. I changed that setting on Allow to publish Entries and it works fine now.
