Hi everyone,

I installed a new blog and am having problems getting it to work correctly. I installed one a couple of months ago and it is working fine. This new one is on a different domain than the first.

When I first installed it I changed the template using the manage styles option in the menu. It changed it just fine. Then I was going to add plugins (now I can't remember if I actually added a plugin or not). Now I cannot get to the manage styles option or the configure plugins option. Here are screen shots of what it looks like when I try to select those:

I was working with Jannis on the blog during the outtage this weekend. This was the last thing she wrote me about it:

I'm not sure, but it looks like serendipity can't fetch the package_template.xml file? Can you find it through FTP? What permissions does it have?

I searched for this file on my pc in the directory that I unpacked the files into. It's easier to search there. I couldn't find the file. Once the blog is installed on the server are there additional files that get unpacked there during the installation? If so, what directory am I looking for this file in?

Hi!

You are using the spartacus plugin, which is forbidden to access the server netmirror.org (or whatever you configured). Maybe because your server is firewalled.

Please uninstall the spartacus plugin from the plugin overview.

First check if your templates_c directory is world-writable!

Thanks!!! I uninstalled spartacus and am now able to see the styles area and the other sidebar plugins. The templates_c directory is set to 775. Is that correct?

I can't remember what the spartacus plugin does. Do I need it in this version of s9y?

Hi!

Hm, 775 would depend on how your user/ownerships are on the server. 777 would work in every case, 775 only if the webserver user is in the same group as your directory owner.

The Spartacus plugin allows you to access the remote plugin repository to download plugins over the web. Without it, you need to manually download plugins.

I had to work on some other projects for the last few weeks and am back working on this one again.

I would really like to be able to use Spartacus. There are a couple of plugins that I'd like to have loaded. Static pages is one. The other domain that I have sy9 loaded on is working fine with Spartacus so I'm not sure that the server being firewalled is the issue. One of the differences that I found is that the domain that works fine is structured as follows:

/
-.cpc
-cblog
--html (this is where s9y is loaded)
-cgi-bin
-html


The one that is not working with Spartacus looks like this:

/
-cgi-bin
-html
--images
--serendipity

I'd like to be consistent and am not sure how these ended up loaded differently. If I can't get spartacus to work with this domain is there a way to manually load the plugins?

Yep. You can install plugins manually.

Go there : http://spartacus.s9y.org/

Download the plugins you desire. Unzip the folders. Upload each folder with an FTP client like Filezilla into the yourblog.com/serendipity/plugins folder.

Then go to your blog. Log into the admin panel. Click on configure plugins.

Click on "install new sidebar plugins" or "install new event plugins".

A list of all the plugins available will appear. Click on the disk for each plugin you have uploaded. Configure them. And there you go. No need for spartacus.
