Additional Fields For User Registration

Is there any way to extend the fields that need to be filled out by a user when registering for comments?

I am using the User Self-Registration plug-in.

I don't want "users" to be able to post articles or anything. I just want to be required to have an account when posting a comment.

Thanks!

Hi!

You can configure the User Self-Registration plugin to indicate in which group a user is put. You can then configure that usergroup to have no privileges except to login. And you can also give every user that registers himself the "Allow to create entries" setting to "no".

Thanks. Will the user still be able to comment? Does the Add Comment know that a user is logged in or not?

Thanks

Hi!

Yes, commenting is a frontend feature which is not affected by the backend user management.

If you enabled the feauter "only registered authors can comment", the frontend will recognize their login state, yes.
