Subscription via email instead of RSS ??

Is it possible to subscribe to the blog via email instead of RSS ??

I.e. so that a person receive an email each time there is a new entry on the blog.

Hi!

Short answer: You don't want to do this.

Long answer: Search this forum for "newsletter" or "mailinglist". There are some threads on how to solve this. But I don't recommend it. RSS is the way to go.

(There are also services that mail you changes that occur to RSS feeds)

Ok, I found this post describing the email subscription part, which is not so easy to setup, and you don't recommend it.

But, what about FeedBurner, is that something which can be recommended ?? As far as I understand, then people can subscribe (with the html code that I put on my blog), and will then receive an email when my blog updates with a new entry, correct ??

Ok, so I'm setting up FeedBurner at the moment. And, now I've come to the part, where I can select the option "Offer blog updates via email".

Question: It asks which Widget I'm using, TypePad or Blogger, what should I choose ??

Well, I selected TypePad, and it seems to work

It works fine with FeedBurner ... only issue is, that it only send out mail once per day, but, I'll probably just have to live with, that the update to the DL is not instantaneous.
