Thanks Judebert. I have limited knowledge, but I will do my best to help others out.
Okay I seem to be getting somewhere. I think the problem might lie in what version of Gallery 2 is being used. Note that the plugin calls for version
Gallery 2.1 RC2a or above which can be found on the Gallery download site here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gall ... rror=jaist
I think the problem, Dalif, is that both of us were probably using 2.1.2 (no RC2a on the end).
Here is what I did:
I created a new subdomain called test and installed a fresh s9y and Gallery 2, but with php5 installed. Gallery 2 works just fine with this, but the specific version of Gallery doesn't like the G2embed plugin. However when I pointed my gallery install at my main Gallery that I use for my site - voila, it works. So I think the version of php may also factor in.
If you have time to try this out, let me know how it works out for you, Dalif. I hope that this may point you in the right direction.

Always nice to have somebody take a load off

Garvin is basically superhuman in his efforts in here. I'm surprised he hasn't been committed with noobarisis after helping people with no clue

But I guess making a popular blog system is a commitment.
Azel sure is filling in well. When I get comfortable with the g2/s9y embedding thing, I'll try to do a full guide... so people can embed these two great systems.

Hi!
Just a short note, I'm reading this, and feel very humbled.

Since this thread was going off so very helpful, I didn't dare to intervene. Especially because my 'gallery'-knowledge is sadly quite limited.
So, your help is much appreciated, azel - and everyone else, too, of course.
Btw, Dalif -- what is "noobarisis"?
Best regards,
Garvin

Ok... I figured all along, that I had been using 2.1 RC2, seing as I got the newest version. But I now realize it wasn't quite working that way. I'm pretty sure PHP5 is installed tho, so I've got that going for me at least.
I'm reluctant to reinstall gallery, as I nearly hit an early grave last time I battled it. But no guts no glory or whatever they say. I'm not the sysadmin on this particular server tho, so I'll have to chat to my admin (who's also a friend) about it. He's pretty good with helping once in a while, but he's stuck up on security, and I always have to battle him whenever I want to make a small change. In exchange for a little grief tho, I get free hosting on a secure stable and quite fast server/conn.. worth the effort, methinks.
I'll give RC2 a try sometime this week (it's me birthday soon, so the weekend is gone). And I'll report back. Thanks for your help so far Azel, it's much appreciated.

I understand your hesitation, Dalif, and it wouldn't surprise me if you decided to go with a better solution. Gallery 2 is not a bad program, but there are better gallery applications out there. There is a recent thread where a new s9y user implemented plogger in his installation, and it looks really nice.
Either way, good luck with your gallery. And Happy Birthday on Friday. ;P

Guys,
I'm on plogger's forum now, reading up on the system. Gonna look around for a demonstration of it, so I can see for myself what it looks like. I'm by no means an exclusive g2 user. It just happened to be the first gallery script I stumbled upon (by my own, not using stumbleupon), and so far it has served me well. But a little experimenting has never hurt anyone, so plogger will def get the old checkout.
Noobarisis is a completely made up, but rather fitting, word. It's one of the most common ailments in the world today. Everybody suffers, but only in specific areas of expertise. The cure? Well with the aid of friendly and helpful people, an open and interested mind, it can be overcome.
I'm searching for any s9y vs. plogger refs on their boards. It looks like it's easy to integrate tho, I'm just mainly concerned about the databases being migratable. Sure I can add all the photos again and again (done it a fair number of times already), but how nice it would be, to have plogger just use the existing database from gallery. Find out if it does or not in the next exciting episode of Dalif's Quest for the perfect Website.
Boya!
