The entryproperties compatability issue, can you try if that is resolved with Serendipity 1.0? It should be...

The consistent page lengths is a feature I have no time right now to implement, I'm sorry.

About loosing paragraph breaks: This is impossible to fix, because when the plugin does the splitting it cannot really detect which HTML tags are not closed. You will need to use manual splitting with "<!--splittext-->" in that case.
