Now, with the login problem solved, i have to continue on that one here.
I have been trying a couple of things.
I had the .htaccess files removed completely to exclude that as a possibility. No change, still no write access to the template folder.
I have even installed a third s9y Blog, completely empty, with php 5.1.3 and chmod777 to ALL(!) Files and Folders, and still, no change.
Now as I was experimenting with plugins as well, I had to find out, that i also can not install Plugins from a remote webspace. The Error there:
Code: Select all
Cannot write to file /home/www/username/html/blox//plugins/serendipity_event_recaptcha
Now, as well as the unsuccessful writr to the blox//template folder, there is a double slash.
Funny, the write access to the blox/template_c folder is no problem.
Code: Select all
Saving file as /home/www/username/html/blox/templates_c/package_event_en.xml...
even tho u said domain/index.html is the same as domain/////index.html, it seems like everytime there is a write access problem, this is appearing.
Just waiting on a reply from the support in regards to any other write access blocking systems used. But i don't expect that.

Hi!
Please show us a "ls -lad plugins/" output. I am still quite sure that your permissions are NOT 777. Else, PHP wouldn't complain.
Check if you configured spartacus to set any special chmod/chown commands, and if so, make sure those are set to 777.

Garvin

I'll get u that information. Unfortunately I have no SSH access to the webserver. So I've requested the output from the support, will see if they're doing that.
In the meantime I have gone to another try. Before installing S9Y, the script checks for compatibility.
Thats my turnout:
http://www.rodnox.de/screen.png
writing permission to all folders accepted. But than again, same error during the theme change procedure.
I'll wait for the support to come back on me with that output.
[edit]
Yes spartacus had also database name, user and password and the order to chmod to 777 as recommended.

Could it be, thats a problem with sagfe mode and some wrong configured paths?

Hi!
Note that the installed only checks core permissions. Additional permission checks for Spartacus are not performed at that point, as s9y can be installed without using spartacus and requiring those privileges.

Well that makes sense. But as I had said, to test, I had installed a s9y version and set the whole blog in 777 chmod rights. And the error would still appear.
Now The "ls -lad plugins/" output confirmes that the folder Template has 777 rights.
drwxrwxrwx 42 User User 4096 Jul 16 2007 plugins/
In regards of spartacus I got the following errors in the logfiles:
Code: Select all
[Wed Jun 17 15:35:09 2009] [error] [client 86.41.xxx.xxx] PHP Warning:
ftp_chdir() [<a href='function.ftp-chdir'>function.ftp-chdir</a>]: Failed to

But since the IP mentioned is actually my IP, I think thats just by accident something to do with spartacus. Maybe that has happened during the upload procedure with my ftp client. It crashed once, so I deleted it all and started uploading again. But the Error log would still be there.
Abouth wrong configured paths, I didn't change the default configurations.

Hi!
Ah, you're using the FTP mode of spartaucus. Try to not do that. Remove all inputs in the FTP* fields. These are only when usual spartacus mode does not work in SafeMode hosts.

Hi!

They are for cases where safe_mode is enabled in PHP.

I've solved it. ..... Hallelulia ... *dance*
The Problem was that my provider sets the login to my ftp by default to a directory above the html area.
When spartacus now tries to create the folders inside the template area, it doesn't find the blog folder, cause it would have to enter the "html" folder first.
Now obviously without entering the "html" folder, there is no "blog/template" folder and without that, there is no permission to write. That would also explain why the theme installation didn't work when i chmodded the whole blog folder to 777.
Now there are two solutions for that problem.
Either enable the spartacus ftp feature for safe_mode and set the path in the last line at the bottom to the directory needed or u create a ftp user, that enters the server at the right directory.
Thank you for trying to help me ... its been two interesting weeks ^^
