Yes! I think so, too. It was just a quick hack, to stop this annoyance.. 
Is this your code or is it old? Read: Are you able to fix this fast, or should I do the change?
Later: If I just change the text inside a link a little and resave, a trackback is sent again. This should be changed definitly, I think..

, I already changed this. Perhaps we should drop the name column in the references table, at the moment I am writing the articles title into it, to visualize, that a link is only saved once per article.
